We were approached by Derwent London to produce a limited edition piece of artwork and to feature in the first in a series of short films celebrating the art and craft of typography in London.

Our piece is based on a quote by architect Louis Kahn, and the design has a suitably very structural, almost architectural, arrangement. Building the layout using a bold column of type and the backs of wood type blocks to emphasise the physical ‘joints’ between elements, the shapes and textures reflects both the process and materials of letterpress – our own ‘adoration of the joint’.

Hand typeset and printed in two colours; a metallic gunmetal silver accented with a pop of fluro pink, on grey Materica Clay.
