In 2017, we were honoured to give the annual Beatrice Warde memorial lecture at St Bride Library in London. Our talk was centred around our creative practice and our work at The Counter Press, but in honour of the lecture’s namesake we also peppered the presentation with quotes taken from Mrs Warde’s numerous speeches and essays. These were snippets of wisdom we simply felt were most revealing and relevant to the work we do today.

This small book was produced as a keepsake of that talk, a small collection of our favourite Beatrice Warde quotes.

Carried forward has been printed in two colours using Monotype Caslon 128, cast at The Whittington Press, with 40-line wood type on the cover. Text pages printed on Zerkall Ingres 120gsm, with a South Bank Smooth cover and two-thirds Hahnemuhle Bugra Butten wrapper. Produced in an edition of just 40 for friends of the press.
